I am writing to share that Co-Superintendent Melea Nalli and myself will be recommending to the Board of Public Education that Amy Marx serve as the next principal of King Middle School, beginning July 1. After a selection process that included 14 candidates from multiple states and multiple rounds of screening, we are confident that Ms. Marx is the right leader for the King community moving forward. Thank you to the members of the King community that participated in the interview process.
I’m writing to let you know that our school had a “soft lockdown” this afternoon for a short period of time due to activity by Portland Police near our school. The activity was not school-related, but police were in the process of arresting a suspect, and they recommended that we make sure the area around our school was secure and that there was no one outside beginning about 1:45 p.m.
On behalf of the entire staff at King Middle School we are happy to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year. We are very excited to return in September and launch a new year full of exciting opportunities.
