Fall Sports Information

Soccer and field hockey practices take place at Dougherty Field. These field are located next to the water works, students walk from King to the fields. Practices usually start at 2:45 and end around 4:00. Once early release starts Wednesday’s are usually an off day unless there is a game scheduled.

  • Cross Country athletes usually meet in the gym right after school and run different courses under coaches supervision during the week. All meets are on Wednesdays
  • Tennis is an extramural sport, they practice or have matches three days a week. Wednesday’s are an off day and another day off will be decided by the coaches and students will be notified which day is off at the meeting.

We provide all transportation to away events. Students will be dropped off at the school after the event. Arrangements should be made ahead of time to pick up the athlete at the school when the bus returns.

  • Here are the schedules  and a hard copy will be given to the athlete at sign ups.
  • Athletes are expected to be at all practices, the following is district policy. A student is allowed one unexcused practice with no penalty. A second unexcused absence will mean the athlete misses the next event and a third unexcused absence means the athlete will be dismissed from the team.
  • All students are required to have a physical from a doctor every two years. If it has been more than two years since the student has had a physical please make arrangements to have this done before practices begin. Students must also return a completed PPS Sports Risk/Warning Form
  • Please remember the major objective of middle school sports is to prepare the athlete for higher levels in future years. Discipline, practice and being a good teammate are all necessities to being a good athlete and are heavily emphasized to King athletes. We are extremely proud when our athletes are successful at the next level and feel we set the proper foundation for their success. If you or your child has any concerns feel free to email or call me (874-8140).
