EVOLUTION is adaptation over MILLIONS of years. It may be as simple
as losing chin
hair, or as drastic as evolving from
a primate to a human being. Humans have evolved
so much, we are nature's most intelligent creatures. Our intelligence
is one of our most important adaptations to our environment. Evolution is
change over a long period of time, whereas an adaptation is change over
a relatively short amount of time.
Charles Darwin was an important
person in science because he developed a theory of evolution. He voyaged
to the Galapagos Islands and discovered many interesting creatures there.
This trip helped him explore the idea of natural selection, where the most
equipped animal survives, i.e. survival of the fittest. He explained that
similar animals have characteristics suited to their environments.
Over millions of years, animals
change to fit their environment. Humans are animals, too. If you get someone
from China, Hawaii, Nigeria, and Germany they will all look slightly different,
because of their environment. Living in environments like hot places, dry
places, cold and wet places, and sunny places causes humans and animals
to naturally change to suit their environment.
People who live in very hot places have developed
the adaptation of darker skin, because that dark skin protects them from
UV rays.
I can't think of evolution
resulting in endangerment, unless natural selection takes out a species.
It seems that endangerment is caused by humans and humans only.
Evolution supports the survival of all species.
