What is best practice in Expeditionary Learning for your school?


Goals:
1. To understand the process and methods that shaped Fading Footprints
2. To outline the major components of a learning expedition
3. To generate knowledge of best practice in learning expeditions.

Time: 120 minutes

Description of Activity:
1. Materials: iBooks, journal notes, pen, pencil, models of learning expeditions, timelines, Fading Footprints article.

2. Read Fading Footprints article.

3. Round table discussion relating to following questions:

    a. What are the key components of a learning expedition like Fading Footprints?

    -- Focus on four connecting statements on page 3, second paragraph of the Fading Footprints article.

    -- Consider strategies for differentiation described in the last paragraph of page 6 and first paragraph of page 7.

4. Review expeditions as constructionist activities with Sparks of Liberty and Sparks Map.

5. Riverworks Documentary - Discuss Anatomy of an Expedition.
