     Between the years of 1776 - 1787, America fought for and won its independence in the American Revolution. The Continental Army defeated the redcoats allowing America to secede from England's rule. Also this is a time of sorrow for all of the soldiers who gave their lives for freedom.

Major Historical Events:
1776:  The declaration of Indepedance was written and signed.

1778:  The French join the Americans to fight the redcoats.
1781:  The British surrender at Yorktown, Virginia.

1783:  The Treaty of Paris is signed.
1787:  The Constitution was created and signed into law.
