Ecosystems and Ecology

Ecosystem-- A community of living and non living things that work together.

Ecology--the branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings.

There are symbiotic relationships in an ecosystem
Symbiosis is a close relationship between the individuals of two (or more) different species.
Mutualism is where both species benefit.  Communalism where one species benefits, the other is unaffected.  Parasitism one species benefits, the other is harmed.  Competition neither species benefits.

Turkey's Role in Ecosystem--

Turkey are found in Southern United states to the atlantic sea board and into New England.  Some wild turkeys are in Central America.  Turkeys live in the Temperate Deciduous Forests.  Temperate regions usually have four seasons every year.  Temperatures range from below freezing, to very hot in the summer.  Turkey help reduce the number of seed, insects, and plants.

There are abiotic features in an ecosystem, and there are biotic factors in ecosystem.  A biotic factor are the things in the ecosystem that aren't living like rocks, soil, and water.  Abiotic factors are all the living things in an ecosystem like animals, and plants.

In ecosystems there are limiting factors which limit the size of populations.  They limit the populations a lot of ways  One way is having predators in each ecosystem.  If the climate changes some animals cant survive.  The competition could also be high.  The food, living space, and water is competition for animals.  The population of animals in an ecosystem relate to each other because they are all connected in in the food chain.

habitat: the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism.
producer: An organism that makes its own food.
consumer: An organism that cannot produce its own food.
predator: an animal that naturally preys on others.
Prey: an animal that is eated by a predator.

The major parts of an ecosystem includes the soil, atmosphere, head, light from the sun, living organisms, and water.
