A food web shows how many animals are interconnected
by different paths. As you can see the beaver is quite low in the
food web. The beaver is eaten by the foxes, hawks and owls. The beaver is
a herbivore so it only eats plants. As you can see the beaver is quite fed
upon. The beaver has two parts of its body that can protect it from larger
animals. One which everyone knows it their teeth.
These teeth can take down a fully grown tree. So that can help it
defend itself when confronted by any predator. The other part is its tail
that helps is swim away quickly from underwater predators.
With the beavers webbed feet it can swim rapidly.

I know it is hard to believe that
this is one of the beavers top predators. This is not the only top predator of the beaver.
There is the coyote. As you can see the coyote is flying up to the top of
the food chain.

food web is more complicated than a food chain. A food chain is a
series of organisms interrelated in their feeding habits, from the smallest
being fed upon by a larger one. Which in turn feeds a larger animals etc.
The beaver is actually quite low is the food chain and food web. The beaver
is a herbivore so it can get eaten by many carnivores and omnivores such
as the coyote, the wolf, the fox, hawks, and many more carnivores. In
the picture above there are plants, herbivore (which is my animal) Carnivore
such as the coyote. That is a small basic food chain. |
