A food chain is a  rank series of organisms each dependent on the next as a source of food. An example of a food chain is below.
A food web is a series of food chains connected by organism feeding habits. An example of a food web is below.


 



                                                      Here are some ecological terms if you're lost!      

Predator- An animal that naturally preys on others.

Prey- An animal that is hunted and killed by another for food.

Omnivore- An animal that eats both meat and plants.

Herbivore- An animal that eats plants.

Carnivore- An animal that eats meat.

Producer- A plant that produces food for the animals. It is usually at the bottom of the food chain.

Consumer-
An animal that consumes plants or other animals.

Decomposer-
Scavengers that consume detritus or dead animals.
