Food Web: An example of how, in an ecosystem,
animals live off of each other. In each food web there are top predators,
which are the animals that eat most of the animals. The fox, one of the top
animals, hunts rabbits, squirrels, mice, seed- eating birds, and insectivorous
birds. The hawks and owls, the second top animal, hunts rabbits, squirrels,
mice, seed- eating birds, and the insectivorous birds. The rabbits, squirrels,
mice, seed-eating birds, and the herbivorous insects all eat plants. The
spiders hunt herbivorous insects, and predaceous insects. The toads hunt
all insects. The predaceous insects hunt spiders, and herbivorous insects.
The snakes hunt toads, insectivorous birds, herbivorous insects, predaceous
insects, mice, and seed-eating birds. Lastly, the insectivorous birds hunt
spiders, predaceous insects, and herbivorous insects. That is what all the
animals in the food web hunt. In other, more complex food webs there are
a lot more animals and species. Also there are other food webs that have
much less animals and species in them, those are rather easy to look at.
